Samco Trials
Samco Trial Site at Adare Co. Limerick Ireland with 19 Film types for observation.
Many Trials are carried out each year in different countries to discover varieties that perform with the Samco System. The varieties range from 200--700 FAO. Each variety is recorded on its ablity to come through the Samco Film. At the end of the growing season each variety is weighed and tested for fresh and grain yield.
Young maize seedling come up after 9 days sowing.
Samco Water hole system design to prevent water ponding over maize plant.
The temperatures are recorded at 12 Noon Every Day. The temperature drop between 26th and 29th of April was due to very cold night time temperatures. Under the Samco Film the temperature remained above freezing protecting the young plants.
Maize Plants breaking through samco film
40 days after sowing, 5 varieties have achieved 50% plant breakthough with the Samco film. Our findings show that the Justina variety is the number one to come through the Samco film, and is then followed by : PR39T13; PR39T83; BENICIA and PR39V43.
Samco trial site at Aberystwyth -- (south west of Wales) in co-operation with Pioneer and Aberystwyth University.
(Week 27) Pollination started 13 weeks after sowing. X7V244 was the 1st to pollinate, 2nd PR39V43 and X8V245; 3rd PR39A44; 4th PR39D60; 5th JUSTINA. (Week 28) BENICIA and PR39T83 start to pollinate.
(Week 27) Varieties are weighed. 10 average plants were taken from each variety plot 13 weeks after sowing. Benicia and PR39T83 are the heaviest at 28 tonne per acre (70 tonne/Ha), PR39D60 X7V244, X8V245, 24 tonne per acre (60 tonne/Ha), P8000, 23 tonne per acre (58 tonne/Ha) Justina, PR39V43 21 tonne per acre (52 tonne/Ha), PR39A44 20 tonne per acre (50 tonne/Ha)
Samco mulch film Trials Samco One, Samco White, Green and Grey have degraded well at this stage with little film visible. The Samco Films are coloured for identification and are made from different formulations. Degradation is effected by Temperature, UV Radiation, Soil Type and Weather conditions. All Samco films are designed to degrade at different stages from Sowing dates, Plant Emergence and Location.
